About Us
We are Yoko & Geoff. Our 'internet only' store -
originally called The Joy Of Walking - was established in early
2005.
We are both in our 'mid life' years, have
both overcome foot and knee problems, past surgeries and some injuries largely
through and because of walking!

Walking
and our passion for it has been a mainstay to recovering our mobilty, health
and happiness. We have truly 'been there and done that' when it comes to some
of the bumps in the road along the way. We are happy to consult with you
should any of these 'bumps' be something you need a little inspiration with.
We know that high quality gear has played a
key role in both our return to and enjoyment of walking (and hiking and cross
country skiing and ... you get the idea). We love sharing our passion with you
and helping you any way we can. Oh yes - we own, wear or use at least one of
every type and brand we carry. Some of our hiking boots (Vasque) are still
going strong after 25-30 years. (When we refer to the quality and benefits we
do so from personal, first hand experience).
Our home base
is in Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada. We are in the heart of the West
Kootenays - one of the world's most truly beautiful areas just a short
distance north of Spokane, WA. We started out in Calgary, Alberta just east of
Banff in the Canadian Rockies. We know and love that part of the world very
well also. In fact we are both very well travelled and love many areas of this
great planet of ours.

One thing we are not is connected in
any way to a franchise set of stores apparently with the same name located in
some parts of the US. We have an internet store only (no physical store) and
they have physical stores only and no internet presence. Our focus is
exclusively on outdoor walking, hiking and backpacing for health and well
being. Because we are unable to find any information about the other entity of
the same name on the web we are not able to help you get in touch with them.
